Get up and dress up !

What was the first thought that came to your mind, when you read the title? For most of you, it must have been getting ready in fancy clothes and putting on make-up. Some of you would jump on the bandwagon and look like kings and queens. Whereas, dressing up for lazy people like me would just be changing from my pajamas into jeans so that I can go and have my favorite cup of coffee in that expensive CafĂ©, round the block.

Sometimes, dressing up could mean little things like wearing a kajal or a pair of goggles or changing into your favorite pair of shoes. For me, it is changing my earrings and putting up the nail polish which matches the color of my monochrome clothes. I think it's easy to guess by this that I am someone who loves to match everything in her outfit. It would sound crazy but one day, I looked like mango because my outfit was yellow, including my cute stud earrings. And this is not a single incident of this type, I have tons of those.

Dressing up has its own magic. It makes you more self-confident. For instance, remember the day when you got ready for your farewell at school or the day when your mom got you all dressed up for that annual day dance when you were a kid? How did that feel? Well obviously, the first feeling was being trapped into that funky dance outfit. But after that, just as you saw your friends dressed like you, it was such a great feeling. It makes you feel so good.

There are so many levels of dressing. And I can say for sure that for every person, these levels exist. How these levels are defined may vary person-to-person but they do exist. For me, the first and the topmost level is where I am forced by my mom to get ready (and that is the extreme level to which I can be decorated). This happens when I have to attend any weddings or such family functions. The second level is the one that is the extent to which I can get ready myself and I do this for birthday parties and when I am going out for eating at a high-end restaurant, which happens at most twice a year. The third one is a decent one such that I look like a human girl wearing jeans and tops, which is my usual attire while attending college. Then, there comes this last category in which no one would identify me as a mentally stable human because I am dressed like a hooligan with whatever pair of pajamas or shorts I can find and the tops which are worn-out to an extent when they become really soft to wear and horrible to look at. This is my everyday attire and I restrain myself from meeting people in this version to not scare them off (Yeah, you guessed it right! This is the way I look during these lockdown days).

Let me tell you a secret! We can dress up whenever we feel like it. This was a secret because most of you often tend to forget this. Why should we dress up only at the time of an occasion? Now, while writing this, I have attained enlightenment and would like to "Get up and dress up!" right away. So, what are you waiting for? I understand that it isn't easy but let us all look like actual human beings for some days, even in this Quarantine period. I know it's a lot to ask for but you guys can at least try, right?
