Whimsies all around

What is the world without a little magic? I've recently come to realise that I love noticing the little things, and I'm so grateful to get to see them all. When you lose a quarter every year to your seasonal depression, you try not to lose any more time shrinking yourself. So, I don't understand the nonchalance of our generation. I'm very chalant, and I'm very loud about it. We can't always keep waiting around for the next big thing to happen in our lives, just to feel happy. So, lemme tell you about all the little things that brought me a smile lately:

  • I found a heart in my cookie, hihi

  • My table number at a restaurant was my favourite number haha

  • I got to see a perfect sunset while travelling back home one day

  • I named the wifi at my place "Cookie"
  • I rode on one of the longest escalators that I've ever seen

  • I got my hot chocolate in the "Harry Potter" edition mugs from Starbucks

  • I ate the best kulfi ever

  • My Kajal can double as an eyeliner, and it comes with its own sharpener. I can't get over how cool that is!!
  • I baked a blueberry cake, and the blue colour of it was really cute
  • I got a new emerald coloured coffee mug
  • I found out about the "invisible string theory", and I'm in love with it. It suggests that the universe will keep two people apart until the timing is right. When they finally meet, there will be so many coincidences in the timing, but if one thing had fallen out of line, they would have never crossed paths. But the universe aligns, and they will realise that everything that they went through before they met was just preparing their heart for them. Now, think about all the friends who've been with you through thick and thin, and how it would've been a perfectly curated coincidence for you to meet them when you did.

And that's just some of it, because there are still so many things to experience, so many new books to read, so many new recipes to cook, and so many new hobbies to try. What if we start finding one whimsical thing in our lives every day, just to make our lives more colourful?

Ghosts of Boyfriends Past

I was not gonna miss a chance to title my blog with this (and for those of you who haven't watched the movie, "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," I would highly recommend you do it if you're looking for some light, witty comedy).  When you're in an MBA college, you tend to see a lot of breakups around you (don't discount yours!). What makes a date decent?

This is a question that I've been trying to answer for a while now. And I thought everyone had some sort of checklist for what makes a date good enough for them. So, I wanted to try to have one too, but the more people I met, the more I realised that you can't really define a decent date. Because even if you stay the same (which is hardly the case with me), the person you'll meet next could be completely different from the one you previously met. Promises

For the longest time, I've been afraid of promises. And I don't want this to become a sob story, so I'll keep this part short; My Nana passed away when I was 15 years old, and he was truly my person - a bundle of joy and love (somehow even in his most challenging times). If anyone has ever made me feel like anything is possible, it was him! Almost a month before that dreadful day came was my birthday, and he'd been quite sick for a while by then, having had about 5 surgeries recently. He used to love singing and dancing, and on my birthday, as we turned on his favourite songs, we asked him to have a little dance with us, but he said, "Not this time, but next year, I promise!" and now, as we know it, next year never came.
