"Life is the obstacles"

So my friend sent me a post that read as follows: "Life doesn't start after the obstacles; Life is the obstacles." This made me wonder what if I don't always want to live through those obstacles? Maybe sometimes I just need some time to re-energize to face those obstacles confidently. I know people say that you become a better person after each problem in life, and I believe so too, but can't life give us a little break sometimes? I'm always up for risks but can we also normalize taking out time for ourselves? I know everyone has this goal, which may be earning money for most of us and bringing about a change in the world for others, in their minds, even though they might not be aware of what path to take to follow those goals. And you realize this, more so, when you are about to enter the last year of your graduation. You see people getting interned and placed and the companies but you also see those like you who don't have it all figured out or the ones...

A good listener

Isn't that who all of us need sometimes-Just a Good Listener? Take a minute to ponder over that... One day, I talked to a friend who mentioned that he can be a good listener if I ever want to talk about anything. And how many people can actually say that? Don't you sometimes feel that just letting it all out would solve your problems instead of actually finding a solution or getting any advice from anyone? That happens sometimes and not because you want to run away from your problems but because they might not be ours to solve. Let me give you an example; so my college has decided to extend our current semester by a month and that too just for taking end semester evaluations. After hearing this news, all of us just wanted to rant, for the sake of letting it all out. It's not like we can change the dean's decision or we don't know that we might have to study now, but having someone who can listen to all your rant always helps. The question now arises are you a good ...

Coffee!? Anytime...

Let me just put it out there: "Coffee is a lifeline!!"  And I cannot stress this enough, but my love for coffee is eternal. Whenever someone asks me what my idea of a perfect evening is, my answer is always, "COFFEE!". Now, that evening may not necessarily be a date or anything (even though that is the case for a date too), but in general, if I am to choose how to spend my evening peacefully, it will consist of a hot cup of cappuccino, some paints, an art file and a bunch of Ed Sheeran's songs. And these are all my favorite things together, so what else would I even need?  Moving on to my perfect date, so even though people these days are like, "No! A perfect date nowadays is all about having fun, whether that is at an adventure park, or at a fancy restaurant, or at a bar with a few drinks", I am still a coffee-date person. My perfect date would include having a nice cup of coffee at a cafe and some appetizers, and since we are talking about the ...

Deadlines

According to the Cambridge dictionary, a deadline is "a time or day by which something must be done". We often tend to overlook the word, "by" because for most of us a deadline means to get done with the submission just a minute before the specified time. But it looks like I am not that person. I'm someone who panics if I even approach the last day of the deadline. My college friends usually say, "Grow up! You are not in school anymore." And sometimes, I too think that maybe I should but that satisfaction of submitting an assignment way before the deadlines, gives you a sense of victory and automatically brings a smile on your face. But that is not why I'm writing this blog today. So, what is the point? While we are amidst a deadly pandemic, our colleges want us to meet deadlines which is the worst possible thing they can do because keeping ourselves sane should be our topmost priority right now, but instead we are busy worrying about submitting a...

Slipping Away

Do you ever feel like no matter how much you try, things just keep on slipping away? Be it college studies, work deadlines, career planning, or even maintaining friendships, all of it kind of fades away on some days, and even though you feel it happening you don't have enough stamina to actually work towards it.  As it seems, this happens with all of us when we have a lot to do and many things to figure out. This might make you feel overwhelmed, anxious and blue but that is okay. Take it as a reminder to pause for a while and take a deep breath. I know you've got a lot of things to do but take some time out for yourself during this time. We are already doing enough, to survive this pandemic. Give yourself the credit for that. I know it's not easy because I know how it feels when you try to take some time off but there's a constant nagging of those numerous piled-up tasks, inside your head.  We are generous and want to be there for our friends whenever they need us but ...

Shopping with mom

So, I was talking to one of my friends today and while talking about his day, he mentioned that he accompanied his mom to the market because she wanted to exchange a saree that she bought. He told me this whole episode where she turned the whole store upside down just to find the ideal saree. And I was not amazed. Honestly, why don't all of our shops like this?  Just imagine her satisfaction when she actually found the perfect piece. Now, every time she wears that saree, there will be this look of contentment on her face. It is these simple achievements that bring us the most joy. And shopping (even if you are a window shopper like me) always brings delight. You don't need to shop for clothes. You could shop for books or for food (which is what I do). Even if you don't buy something, entering into a shop makes you appreciate the little things that life has offered you, as the variety of shapes and colors in a garment store or the diversity of lights and sounds which you ca...

Need you more

So, just the other day I was watching this movie, called "Love & other drugs". It was a beautiful movie with an amazing plot. It was the story of a girl suffering from Parkinson's disease and a boy who was an irresponsible womanizing drug rep but he loved that girl very much. Towards the end they have this particular conversation which touched my heart and I would like to talk about this specific dialogue:  "I'm gonna need you more than you need me"-Maggie Murdock, Love & other drugs This dialogue is so deep and meaningful. This was said in reference to the girl's Parkinson's disease but it made me wonder that isn't this true for every relationship? There are various times when one of the partner needs more attention and love than the other. That support could be both physical or emotional. But do we even let this thought cross our mind when we fall in love with someone? It is not always simple and easy to stay in love with someone. At s...
