The Feature Wall

In one of my previous blogs, "Unveiling my artwork", I told everyone about how I created my art page on Instagram. So, I sketched, doodled, and painted for posting on that art page, sometimes regularly and sometimes a bit irregularly. So, naturally, there were a bunch of drawings in my art file. I have a soft board in my room, thus some of those art pieces found their place on that soft board, while the others sat in the drawer of my stationery items.

Now, many of you might be familiar with the ritual of inviting a newlywed couple for lunch or dinner. So, one of my paternal uncles got married two years back and each of his first cousins was supposed to carry out the above-mentioned ritual and my dad was one of them. Soon, after they got married, we started with the renovation of our house, so there wasn't any point in calling them in a half-broken house, with cement and paints everywhere. So, we decided to wait till the renovation was over. But unfortunately, that took about 5 months. Almost a year passed on until we offered them to join us for lunch. Now the issue was that they weren't free then. It was finally after about 2 years of their marriage that we performed that ritual. What do you expect the situation of your house would be like when your mom knows that she's inviting 7 people for lunch (one of which has never even seen your house)? So, we were working rigorously towards cleaning the house (as if it was Diwali already) and making it look beautiful because of obvious reasons. It took us almost two weeks to get things together.

You might be wondering in what way the above two very different stories are related. So, during the beautification of the house, we changed some paintings and showpieces in the house and we bought some cute house plants. Everything seemed good except for a wall in the dining room, which looked very dull and boring (Just so you know, all the walls in my house are white). All of us tried our best to think of something but failed, up until a random idea popped into my mind. I wasn't so sure if my idea would be approved by my parents but it was worth a shot. The idea was to get some of my paintings and doodles framed and put them on that wall in an abstract manner. And guess what? The idea was approved. Accordingly, we got them framed. Sadly, the person who framed those put the hooks (on which we hang the frame) upside down for 2 art pieces. I still don't understand how he couldn't make out if they were upside down because one of them consists of a lot of flowers and now all of them look as if they are falling down from a tree ( that bears flowers of various kinds) and the other one now has my signature on the top left corner instead of the bottom right corner. But during the lunch that week, it all seemed worth it because everyone liked it a lot and that isn't even the best part. The best thing happened when my mom has introduced the paintings by saying, "See! We created a feature wall for Deekshi's paintings and doodles." I can't even explain how happy I was when I heard that. At that moment, I had this weird sense of satisfaction, which cannot be described through words.

So, that was the story of "The Feature Wall"...
