Shopping with mom

So, I was talking to one of my friends today and while talking about his day, he mentioned that he accompanied his mom to the market because she wanted to exchange a saree that she bought. He told me this whole episode where she turned the whole store upside down just to find the ideal saree. And I was not amazed. Honestly, why don't all of our shops like this?

Just imagine her satisfaction when she actually found the perfect piece. Now, every time she wears that saree, there will be this look of contentment on her face. It is these simple achievements that bring us the most joy. And shopping (even if you are a window shopper like me) always brings delight. You don't need to shop for clothes. You could shop for books or for food (which is what I do). Even if you don't buy something, entering into a shop makes you appreciate the little things that life has offered you, as the variety of shapes and colors in a garment store or the diversity of lights and sounds which you can experience as soon as you set foot inside a gadget store. Have you ever noticed how passing by a bakery a "Chaat corner" across the street makes your olfactory senses tickle? Yeah, even going inside that bakery to "just look" at those cakes and pastries is counted as shopping (you and I both know that we are not the ones to come out of there empty-handed).

Now, if we specifically talk about shopping for clothes, I personally need my mom along when I buy my clothes. The fact that she has forever been my personal dresser has not changed even now but the only advancement I have made in this field is that now whenever she asks me if whatever she has tried suits her or not, I can confidently answer with a "yes" or a "no" (I couldn't even do that earlier XD). It's all roses till she asks what will suit better instead. But still, shopping is fun. You can roam around ten stores, looking for the same item, and still buy the first one that you saw. And every time this happens, I begin to wonder if this is what love, at first sight, feels like.

Moving on, let's talk about how we have to force our parents to actually buy clothes for themselves. It was just last week that we went to an apparel store, just for having a look at the new collection of clothes. While standing in the women's section, my mom says to me that the collection is amazing and I could buy something if I feel like and I refused. I instead told her that it's been quite some time since we've been searching for an Indo-western outfit for you, so you should go ahead and buy something for yourself. Obviously, she kept on declining saying that she doesn't need anything right now and moreover, there are no upcoming occasions or functions. But even I am a stubborn kid, I kept showing her different dresses and kept praising the work and quality of the clothes until she finally gave in and bought two beautiful tunic tops. Well, what can we say, even moms can act like kids sometimes. So, we can agree that both shopping with mom and shopping for mom is pleasing and exciting. Can't wait to hear about your experience when shopping with your mom!

    1. We can never beat the coolness of our moms when it comes to shopping. And I think it's fair for her to get irritated because this story's the same for me๐Ÿ˜
