Mystery

The other day, I was watching the movie, "The only living boy in New York". I really loved the concept of that movie but I also feel that concept could have been presented in a better way. In the starting few minutes itself, the narrator said, "Mimi thought Thomas was a boy without mystery." The movie revolved around the life of Thomas, the protagonist.  That dialogue made me ponder upon how mysterious everyone is. And how we judge people so easily based on some instances while not knowing who they actually are and what is going on with them. We can never say that we know someone to the fullest even when we've spent our whole life with that person. There are always secrets and mysteries that people bury deep inside their hearts. Also, how can we say if someone is without mystery? We often claim that we know every single detail of our siblings or our closest friends. But do we? We can never be sure of that. And that's what makes life interesting. We meet peop...

Just a hug !

It's amusing how a simple hug can turn so many things around. If we see it, it is just a simple gesture of wrapping your arms around someone else. But it means so much more and can be an instant cure when our heart is in pain. Being in someone's arms can make you feel so safe as if it's the only secure place to be in at that moment. It's soothing when we hug a loved one but this little act of kindness from even a stranger is so powerful that it can take all your loneliness and pain away for that bit.  It's magically this tiny and astounding packet of energy. A hug can make you feel cared for when you are experiencing something as happy as a wedding and can console you when you are feeling sad over a breakup. A hug can pacify an angry person and lift up the mood f someone who's feeling gloomy. I like to think of it as lying in the clouds while embracing the fact that there are people in your life who find you important and have got your back. Since this small dee...

Money or Love ?

People often ask this question: "If given an option to choose between money and love, what would you choose ?" I'll like to put forward some points regarding this question and then I'd like to tell what my thoughts are in this context. First of all, I believe that this question should start with the word, "Imagine" because such choices can only exist in one's imagination. In real life, this choice is not given to you. You have to somehow find a balance between the two. Even a slight variation in this equation of two variables can lead to a disaster. Now, to answer that question, I'll like to dive deeper into it. Most people are of the view that in the end everyone has to choose love and that is the only thing that matters. But my opinions differ. I'm agreeing with how important love is. Yet, if offered a choice, I would like to opt for money. With that infinite sum of money, I would want to fulfill my dream of a world tour and not just any world ...

Lockdown: a college student edition

For an average college student like me, life has transformed so much during this lockdown. Living in a hostel for two years, made me forget what it was like to be at home. How it feels to spend so much time with your family hits you at a different level when your stay was so unplanned and seems almost never-ending now.      Staying at home has its own perks and problems. One day, you are devouring all the savories and the next day you are standing with a frying pan in your hand and making an attempt to cook something not only for yourself but for your whole family. Every hosteller becomes used to his or her peace after they've spent a certain amount of time, trying to adjust to their hostel environment. But you can't expect the same amount of sanity and peace in your home. This can be said because as soon as you will make up your mind to study, your little brother would want your laptop. Or as soon as you'll start a new web series, your mom will hand you a long list of ho...

That one person

All of us have that one person in our lives, from whom we can't hide our true selves. It doesn't matter how hard we try to not express our feelings. The feelings of loneliness and pain or the feelings of content and excitement. That person just knows somehow. That is the one person who knows the real you.Even their one look makes you give in and pour your heart out. Other people just tend to know one or the other version of you. They judge you by how you portray yourself in front of them. For some people, we are the cheerful kind while for others we are the short tempered ones and for many more we are moody and self-centered. This is just because this is how they have seen us. They don't know who we really are. Now that person is our mirror, basically. They know how kind you are at heart. They know how you cry when get too angry and how you feel so bad after hurting someone's feelings, even if it was unintentional. That person could be your father or your mother or your...

The idea of love

I often wonder what the idea of love is... Because there could be so many things. Right? For some, it may be a sweet kiss on the cheek while for others, it may be having the same taste in music. Perhaps, a handshake or just a carefree dance in the rain would be the idea for some. Having a kadak masala chai from the nearest tea stall or enjoying at fancy nightclubs for many others. Nevertheless, sitting together in the school corridor or long drives after work or just late-night texting sessions can be your outlook.  It's amusing to think how a simple gesture like holding hands could mean so much to some and so little to others. Almost everyone has a different opinion on what love is supposed to be. And what do we expect from love? Wait! Should we expect though? No matter what, we still do. We expect it to stay forever. We expect it to care for us and make us grow. But most importantly, it makes us feel desired, and maybe that's what the feeling of love signifie...
