Get up and dress up !

What was the first thought that came to your mind, when you read the title? For most of you, it must have been getting ready in fancy clothes and putting on make-up. Some of you would jump on the bandwagon and look like kings and queens. Whereas, dressing up for lazy people like me would just be changing from my pajamas into jeans so that I can go and have my favorite cup of coffee in that expensive  CafĂ©, round the block. Sometimes, dressing up could mean little things like wearing a kajal or a pair of goggles or changing into your favorite pair of shoes. For me, it is changing my earrings and putting up the nail polish which matches the color of my monochrome clothes. I think it's easy to guess by this that I am someone who loves to match everything in her outfit. It would sound crazy but one day, I looked like mango because my outfit was yellow, including my cute stud earrings. And this is not a single incident of this type, I have tons of those.  Dressing up has its own ma...

Colours

There are people of so many colours in this world, ranging from white to yellow to brown to black. Everyone's a different shade which makes everyone unique in their own way. But have you ever thought of how the world would have been if this system was somewhat off the wall ? What would it be like if instead of just shades of these colours, we could be born with a skin of any color ? By any color I literally mean any color from green to blue to red to purple. Wouldn't that be really cool ? The world would look so colorful. People would be appealing in a whole new way. And it would be even better if that skin color shows what our favourite color is. So now, the person next to you would know seeing which color would lift up your mood and make you happy. And guess what ? Getting up every morning and looking at yourself in the mirror, it'll make you really happy and you can start your day with this positivity. The world would be a colorful place to be in. Also, maybe only then w...

Talk it out !

Mental health awareness is the call of the hour. So, I felt that I should also come forward and speak about what my opinions are in this context. My firm belief is that all mental issues can be solved by bridging the communication gap. Let me try and bring about a fair justification for this. Everyone wants to be heard. Think about the times when you were feeling sad about something and you called up your friend, just to tell them about it. How did that make you feel? Relieved, right? This was because that was all that you wanted at that time. You wanted to lift off that stress and tension and just a little talk with your close one made you feel better. This is all that is required by someone who is going through depression or anxiety disorders or any such mental illness. You need to make all those around you comfortable enough to make them feel at home. Because I find most of the people saying that how can we help anyone if we don't know what they are going through. Have you ever ...

The toaster incident

Everyone has childhood experiences which are funny and worth remembering. Just like many of you, I too used to be a naughty child. So, I also have some funny childhood incidents. But there's one incident that stands out the most. Let me tell you about it. My parents had to attend someone's wedding reception, one fine evening and my little brother and I were to stay at home. This basically meant party for us. We loved to make our special toast whenever mom and dad left us at home. For this, we would first toast a bread and apply ketchup on top. Then we would grate cheese slices on top of that bread and top it up with salt, black pepper and oregano, afterwards. This would then be placed in the microwave for the cheese to melt. This would result into this perfect little dish. It actually used to tasty. You all should also give it a try some day. Now, let me tell you what happened that day. After mom and dad left, we went to kitchen and arranged all the required ingredients. We swi...

Emojis

We are the generation of emojis. We prefer chatting instead of calling. In fact, there are hardly any people in our lives whom we wish a "Happy Birthday!" on a call. And in a chat, emojis are inevitable. There are mainly three kinds of emoji lovers. Let's check these out. The first category uses too many emojis. They live with the concept that sending emojis is free of cost, so why not make the most of it and believe it or not, they feel complete at heart after this. The most common emoji that is used by them is the "HAHA" emoji which expresses that you are laughing so hard that tears of laughter are bursting out of your eyes. You crack an impractical joke in front of them and they'll laugh their asses off or at least that's what their emoji would make you feel like, even if it didn't even bring a slight smile to their faces. But the worst of it happens when you message them to tell something serious like you got caught in a fight with someone and go...

Good touch-Bad touch

I was talking to one of my friends, the other day and we started discussing eve-teasing and sexual harassment. We can appreciate the fact that the film and television industry is trying to make advancements in this area by talking about the good touch and bad touch in various movies and web series. Like there is this short web series called, "Mentalhood" which I just finished watching with my mother. It has tried to portray how parents can play a major role in comforting their children and creating awareness amongst them regarding sexual harassment. They took a stand and tried to bring about a change in the school practices by conducting a workshop for kinder-garden kids in school. By all this, the web series maker was definitely aiming to extend that awareness to its audience. But do you think that it actually can start that kind of evolution? Take a moment and give it a thought. I think it's been quite some years since the producers and scriptwriters have started to inc...

Dreams

Dreams can refer to two things. They can be our aspirations and our ambitions in life or could refer to the series of thoughts that we experience during our sleep. Either way, they play a major role in our lives. And today I am intrigued to unfold my thoughts about the latter.  The idea of dreams has always fascinated me. Even though they are just hallucinations in our sleep but they let you escape to a different world. They somewhat make you believe that in an alternative universe, these dreams may actually be true. Personally, I'm the kind of person who would prefer if someone wishes me "No dreams!" before sleeping rather than "Sweet dreams!". This is mainly because I've struggled with nightmarish dreams for a little too long now. But this fact has never made me any less of an admirer of dreaming because of those rare dreams which add magic and fun to living. And I would love to describe one of these for you. For instance, this one time I dreamt of living ...

Commitment issues

What do we actually mean by commitment issues? I never understood it until recently when I acknowledged mine. According to me, these refer to a feeling which may even be a fear of not being able to give a name or tag to any kind of a relationship. That relation could be as simple and sweet as that of a friend or it could be as complex as that of a lover. Most people think that these don't exist. And trust me, even I never believed they didn't so far. That is mainly because of the belief that if a person is incapable of committing, he or she is incapable of giving their best to that relationship. But that's not really true and by sharing some of my past experiences, I would like you to rethink it and reconsider this notion. I've always felt uneasy whenever my friends showered me with, "You are one of the best friends one could get." I mean I'll always be there for you when you need me because I like to help and care for people but I'm not sure if I fe...

Unveiling my artwork

Everyone has tried to learn something different or polish their already existing skills during this lockdown. And I too did. I know this might not sound anything unusual but I started my Instagram art page to bring out to the world my art. "What's that to be proud of ?", many of you might be thinking. And I agree because so many people have started one in this quarantine period.  But it isn't as easy and "bleh" as it seems. For starters, you have to feel confident about the idea of starting one. Then you have to confront the most difficult part of coming up with a name, which would reflect you in your work. Even after thinking for a week, I couldn't come up with one. After which, I finally started asking my friends. It might seem an idiotic thing to not have asked them in the first place. But honestly, I wanted to do this all by myself. It felt like I wanted to own everything related to it. But I finally gave up and became open to suggestions. At last,...
