Little Things

It's always the little things that make you happy. Let's have a look at some of those heart-warming things:

  1. The earthy scent fills up the air during rain (you just can't get enough of it).
  2. The moment when you realize the online clothes you ordered, fit perfectly.
  3. Winning a game of ludo.
  4. Vibing instantly with a stranger.
  5. Making a baby smile.
  6. Clicking a picture that is just spot-on to post on your feed (even though that rarely happens).
  7. Eating cheesy fries.
  8. Realizing it's the weekend, after a hectic day.
  9. Dancing to the beats of your favorite song.
  10. The moment Starbucks spells your name correctly.
  11. Talking about cartoons, you watched in your childhood.
  12. Popping bubble wrap.
  13. Finding something you've been missing for a long time (and had forgotten if it even existed).
  14. Unexpected compliments.
  15. Turning the pillow over to feel its cool side.
  16. Coming across a good movie or TV show to watch (especially when you feel that you've watched everything that you could).
  17. Starry nights with a bright moon.
  18. Your parents appreciate your small efforts to make them happy.
  19. Drinking a hot cup of coffee on a foggy winter evening with your loved ones.
  20. Make your friends laugh when they are feeling low.
  21. Finding the lyrics of a song relatable.
  22. Looking at your childhood photographs (and realizing that those were your "good old days").
  23. Waking up to a well-organized room and uncluttered cupboards.
  24. Peacefully enjoying reading and finishing a novel, while sitting undisturbed in a calming environment.
  25. Achieving the optimum temperature in your room, after adjusting the fan speed and the AC temperature.
Winnie the Pooh once said, "Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart." And I think the message conveyed through this was so simple yet beautiful because it's always the little things that matter. Let me know about more such comforting little things!

Women in their traditional gender roles

 Today, I suddenly got the urge to bake something I haven't baked before and I thought of baking an orange almond tea cake. As an update, it's in the oven while I write this blog. As soon as I placed that cake tin in the oven, a sense of satisfaction and peace dawned upon me and it made me appreciate my love for baking again. This made me wonder how some people misinterpret feminism as "women leaving traditional gender roles and adopting more male-dominated roles." The only issue with that is that these "feminists" start looking down upon the women who actually enjoy activities like cooking and crocheting and women who choose to be caregivers, nurses, and homemakers.  We, as a society, need to understand that feminism stands for equal opportunity in all areas. Mood swings (a poem)

I had this one in my drafts for the last 4 years. I think I was hoping to make it a little more extended one day, but life is too short to not publish your childhood poems (yes, 4 years back feels like childhood now). So, here goes... Sometimes I can be so grumpy. Instead of being happy. Mood swings at the worst. So, I may have an outburst. The reason could be my periods. Or a ton of stress. Give me a surprise. And I might apologize. I might get excited. And may even seem ecstatic. Okay, this kid was clearly going through mood swings, maybe because of a fight with her boyfriend, without realizing that mood swings are not that rare in her future.
