World through spectacles
Hello, my bespectacled fellow readers!
Well yeah, that would have been something new to hear apart from "Chashmish" and "Ms./Mr. Four Eyes". So, for the ones who do not belong to any of the above categories, tighten your seat belts and hop on to this adventurous ride, because even though this stuff might not be relatable to you but it'll surely be entertaining.
We are possibly the last generation who woke up at 6 AM on a Sunday morning, just to enjoy our favorite cartoon shows on the television. So, the ones among us who have been wearing spectacles since an early age, are always taunted, "You must have watched a lot of television and that too while sitting very close to the screen." Yeah totally! We used to stick our eyes to the TV screens with the background music given by our parents saying, "Your eyes will be damaged! Then you'll have to wear large and heavy glasses." Why don't these people believe that we could have inherited this from our parents? Another misconception is that once we remove our glasses, people keep showing us their hands and asking, "Can you count my fingers without glasses?" I mean like seriously? Our vision blurs when we don't wear glasses. It's not like we start seeing more or fewer fingers on our hands and trust us when we say this, we aren't blind. Also, we always keep getting free advice like eating carrots and gooseberry for improving your eyesight. Do you really think we wouldn't have tried that already?
Just as a matter of fact, people look good in glasses. I had to state that even if it may not be true for everyone (Like for me) because that's probably the only positive point about wearing spectacles." You look better with your glasses on", this is something I've heard many times. Apparently, my face changes, my nose becomes bigger and my eyes become smaller or whatever other lame things that could happen. I'm like "Dude you too look better when I don't have my glasses on!!" I know it might be our carelessness but our specs tend to disappear every time we take it off. I sometimes feel like we develop some "specs memory disorder", where you forget where you left them. And then they are so hard to find because we literally need glasses to find our lost ones. This is the biggest paradox in our world. I'll give you the most common example of this: have you ever tried to find your glasses, because you forgot that they are on the top of your head? Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about. For those of you who can wear contacts, I have massive respect for you guys. I can barely go through that trauma.
The list of problems doesn't end there. Yes, you are right. I'm writing this just to rant about my problems. So please just bear with me. So, I was having a headache for quite some days now. Even though the headaches are permanent in our case but it's a problem when it aggravates. The first obvious cause that came to my mind was that the power must have increased again. So I asked my parents to take me to an optician. He checked my eyesight and the power did not increase. So, I asked him about what could cause the headache. His answer was dryness in the eyes. Wasn't it enough to have dry skin? Great, now I even have dry eyes. But I'd been wanting to change my anti-glare lenses to Blue lenses, for quite some time. Some of you might be confused as to what I'm saying because you need a high lens knowledge and almost 7 years of specs experience to understand this crap. So anyway, I bought a new frame and it is a BIG deal because it's almost like getting a new face or maybe even, getting a new life. It's just the color which has changed in my case but whatever, I'm happy with that. We entered the shop with one person (ME) with a potential increase in power and we left with that person (ME) with no change in power and another person (MY BROTHER) getting glasses. This shit is real.
Let me talk about our troubles in various seasons. In monsoon, there are more raindrops on our glasses than on our heads. So, we can't see clearly without glasses and we can't wear glasses to see because they have so many water droplets on them. Winters is the foggy season, so you try to take a sip of hot coffee and before you can even do so, your vision becomes foggy. It's the same story when you open the microwave. In summers, you can't wear sunglasses. So basically, you either wear your sunglasses over your spectacles or you buy a pair of sunglasses with lenses of your power and that my friend, would cost you fortunes to buy. So instead, we are happy to pretend our spectacles to be equivalent to the sunglasses.
Just a piece of advice to those of you who DO NOT have to go through all this: Never under any circumstances, touch a friend's lenses when they ask you to pass their glasses. And to all those warriors out there, just some motivation to get you through your day: Four eyes are better than two because you can stop seeing the world whenever someone tries to make it crappy for you(*wink*).
Haha! Such heart warming post.I was smiling all through it.
